Why the Practitioner Certification In-Person Intensive Training Course…

This course is designed for leaders and managers – in any profession and industry – who want to strengthen their leadership skills, maximize the strengths of their people, create a work environment conducive to collaboration, and help transform the way your organization operates.

To ensure learners have a basic understanding of the concepts and can use a common language to articulate the values, principles, and techniques necessary for success, the Servant Leadership Practitioner course begins with a summary and review of the foundational Servant Leadership philosophy and values and the Servant Leadership Academy Framework.  

From there, the Servant Leadership Practitioner course takes a deep dive into the Purpose, Principles, and Practices of Servant Leadership – as well as – as the Five Core Beliefs of Servant Leadership Manifesto to enable learners to develop and enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies as leaders.

Another key component of the Servant Leadership Practitioner course – and something unique to the Servant Leadership Academy – is supplying learners with a series of tools to provide a deeper understanding of self. We believe that behaviour and action are impacted when leaders have a greater understanding of the three parts of the mind – cognitive, affective, and conative – are able to engage them in parallel to drive desired behaviour and action. 

As such, as an extra benefit included as part of the Servant Leadership Practitioner course, we have included the following assessments:

  • Conative – Through the use of the Kolbe A™ Index, individuals are able to measure their conative strengths, the part if your brain that drives instinctive behaviour, and better understand how they can best position themselves for personal and professional success. 

  • Affective – The TalentSmart Emotional Intelligence Appraisal® delivers insights into the key components of emotional intelligence: overall EQ, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. 

  • Purpose – Imperative’s Personal Purpose Profile is the first validated diagnostic for intrinsic motivation that enables individuals to discover their purpose, which includes uncovering who they seek to serve, how they seek to serve them, and why they are motivated to serve them.

The Learning Path

  • A brief refresher series for practitioners on foundational Servant Leadership philosophy, as well as core Servant Leadership Academy concepts that shape our curriculum and servant leadership model.

  • A self-awareness exploration that includes the understanding of the unique characteristics and traits of what defines you as an individual, and what motivates your desire to lead others. Through this series, learners will gain a deeper understanding of who they are as leaders, what drives their behaviours, and why choose to lead through the service of others.

  • Servant Leaders are driven to lead using a people-centred approach, doing so through a set of strong and clearly established principles. These principles are supported through a servant leadership mindset, and define how we establish repeatable and consistent practices that support the growth and development of our people, and the sustainability of our organizations.

  • The Practices Series outlines the day to day actions and activities that demonstrates to others a leaders intention to lead through a Servant Leadership approach, and shift the balance of power and authority to one that is a shared ownership and accountability through actions that reinforce principles like empathy, listening, foresight and persuasion.
